The dating niche is an evergreen niche, meaning that it is always trending. Are you great at giving dating advice and are thinking about starting a dating blog to help people find love?

Starting a Dating Blog Basics
A dating blog is also a niche blog. All that means is that you are creating a blog on a specific topic. Before I start any niche blog there are a few things that I make sure I do.
Choose a Domain Name
You already know the niche you are in so now it is a matter of brainstorming and choosing a domain name.
Although you are in the dating niche, you can still sub-niche and focus on an even more specific topic. For example, you may want to start a dating blog from a woman’s perspective or from a man’s perspective.
You may even want to focus on the LGBTQ+ perspective on dating. Regardless of your sub-niche, you’ll want to have a good domain name.
Try to have the keyword “dating” in your domain. I also recommend registering a .com versus other top level domain extensions. Dot com domains are still the most popular.
If you cannot find the exact domain name that you want but you want to use specific words, try adding on an extra word like “lab”, “center”, “hq”, “the”, etc.
Use a Self-Hosted WordPress Blog
A self-hosted WordPress blog simply means that you will get your own web hosting account and install WordPress on it. Don’t fret if this sounds too technical. It really isn’t!
You can get everything that you need from almost any commercial web hosting provider. My web hosting provider, WPX Hosting, is an excellent managed WordPress hosting provider.
They will register your domain name, set up your hosting, and you can install WordPress on your account using one-click WordPress installation as pictured below:
Besides that, they have awesome customer support so if you ever have questions or feel lost, they will be there to help.
It is too easy and affordable not to get a self-hosted WordPress website. Avoid free blogging services like Tumblr, Wix, Blogger, etc. Often times, these free services will limit you on how you can make money with your blog.
They may even place their own ads on your blog. Not only that, you run the risk of a free service closing your account at any time for any reason.
Creating Content That Attracts Visitors
Your blog content is key for getting traffic and traffic is what you need to make money with your blog. It is important to do keyword research.
Before writing any blog post, I do keyword research. I barely use keyword tools anymore. I open up Google search and use the autocomplete feature for blog post ideas.
Here are some dating topic ideas that came doing some quick keyword phrase search:
- dating when you have kids
- dating while going through a divorce
- how to date an introvert
- best way to date in your 50s
Quite honestly, there are literally tons of things you can write about in the dating niche. When creating content, be sure to place your keyword phrase in your title and in the first paragraph of your blog posts.
Write naturally and other keywords will occur that you can rank for as well. Over time, your blog posts are indexed and ranked by search engines like Google.
Write New Dating Posts Often
At a minimum, you should write a new blog post once or twice per week. This is doable even if you have a busy schedule. I managed to blog three to four times per week when I had a full-time job.
Perform your keyword research for thirty days of new posts. You can accomplish this by setting aside an hour to come up with new keyword phrases.
Create a spreadsheet of your research and you will not have to worry about writer’s block. You’ll always have a blog topic at the ready.
Part of the reason that you want to create new posts often is so that the search engines will crawl your website more often. The more posts you have indexed, the more will rank.
The more posts you have ranked, the more web traffic you can get. Simple as that. Be consistent and your hard work will pay off!
Do Relationship Blogs Make Money?
The answer is they absolutely can! It requires creating helpful content on a regular basis and monetizing your blog using affiliate products, display ads, or other monetization methods.
Some bloggers can earn anywhere from $500 per month to tens of thousands per month. It all depends on a person’s work ethic and the types of products they are recommending.
For example, a very popular dating website (blog) is DatingAdvice.com. If you browse around that website, you will notice that they have affiliate links to popular dating websites like Match.com, EliteSingles, eHarmony, and more.
Their content is great as they write posts on a variety of dating topics. Although that website has several different writers, it doesn’t mean that you can’t create high-quality content on your own.
There are plenty of one-person blogs out there that make full-time incomes so don’t limit yourself!
Affiliate marketing is my favorite method of making money with a blog. I will go into more detail about how this works.
Make Money with Affiliate Marketing
Niche blogs and affiliate marketing go hand-in-hand. They are an excellent combo for making a consistent income online.
Affiliate marketing is the promotion of another company’s products in exchange for a commission when a sale is made.
The dating niche has various affiliate products that you can recommend. The most obvious being dating websites. Some popular dating websites that have affiliate programs include Match.com, eHarmony, EliteSingles, Zoosk, and more.
You can even find dating courses and eBooks that have affiliate programs. Affiliate programs are free to join. Once you are approved by one, you will receive access to your affiliate links.
Affiliate links are special tracking links that give you credit when a web visitor clicks on one and buys from the merchant’s website.
Let’s say you signed up for Match.com’s affiliate program. You get your affiliate link and add it to one of your blog posts.
A web visitor clicks on your affiliate link and becomes a paid subscriber on Match.com. You receive the credit for the sale and make a commission.
Affiliate Commissions and How You Are Paid
All affiliate programs have different commission rates. Double Your Dating is a popular dating eBook that offers 100% commissions and 50% commissions on their additional dating programs.
Dating website affiliate programs offer various commission rates that can range from 5% to 10% or more.
Most affiliate programs pay out commissions every 30 days. Many will pay via PayPal or check so be sure to have a PayPal account if you don’t already.
My Closing Thoughts On Starting a Dating Blog
Out of all the niches to choose from, the dating niche will remain a popular niche that is evergreen and always going to have income earning potential.
Niche blogs are how I make a consistent income online by recommending affiliate products. It is one of the best ways to make money online.
