How to Make Steady Commissions with Self Employed Affiliate Programs

There are many ways to promote affiliate products but my ideal method is to create a niche blog.

Niche blogs are highly effective for promoting affiliate products. When I got started in affiliate marketing, I knew that I wanted to make money with a blog.

I wasn’t sure how to go about doing that so I searched for an online training program to help me get started.

After doing some research, I found this training program and started it right away.

Putting into action what I learned there helped me to create a successful niche blog. After some time, I was able to transition out of a full-time retail job to working on my blog full-time.

Choosing a Niche

The first step to creating a niche blog for promoting affiliate products is to choose a niche.

In this case, you’ll want to focus on a niche that is related to self employed individuals.

For example, you could create a niche blog that focuses on:

  • helping freelancers be more productive
  • compare and review software products
  • helping people transition to self employment
  • help a specific group (web designers, personal trainers, consultants, etc.)

It helps to choose a niche that you have a genuine interest in. The goal of any niche blog is to help your target audience.

The more helpful information that you provide, the higher your chance of your readers clicking on your affiliate links and buying what you recommend.

Writing for Your Self Employed Blog

You’ll want to write content that your audience is actually searching for. The way to do that is to do a bit of keyword research beforehand.

You can use a keyword tool and there are plenty of them out there. However, Google Search will work just fine.

As you type in a keyword phrase related to your niche, Google Search will return some autosuggest keyword phrases that you can use.

These autosuggest results are keyword phrases that Google users are actually typing and searching for.

You can write blog posts addressing these queries. Over time, Google and other search engines will crawl and index your blog posts.

This is how your posts will be discovered. I recommend writing 1 to 2 quality posts per week.

Do this consistently. Consistency is key with a blog. Many people give up too soon and then assume that you can’t make money with a blog.

This isn’t true! If I gave up within the 3 to 6 month mark of my blog being started, I would’ve missed out on consistent affiliate commissions.

How to Boost Affiliate Sales

When recommending affiliate products within your blog posts, you can link directly to them using your affiliate link.

I’ve had the best conversions recommending products I’ve actually used and writing product reviews for them.

When I create a new blog post, I link to the product review I wrote for the product. This helps with conversions more than linking directly to the product.

The reason is that product reviews act as pre-sell pages. Pre-selling helps to introduce the product to your reader so that when they click on over to the merchant’s page, they are more apt to buy.

What You Need to Start

The great thing about niche blogs is that they are inexpensive to start. All that you need is a domain name, web hosting, and WordPress.

Any web hosting provider can provide you with everything that you need. I recommend SiteGround or WPX hosting.

Both have awesome service and excellent customer service. Once you have your website up, it is a matter of choosing a WordPress theme and creating your blog posts.

If you prefer step-by-step training, I recommend following the same online training program I followed.

Inside that training platform, you will learn how to set up your website with your own domain name.
